324 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the EU countries which have implemented the European Communities (Zoonoses) Regulations in accordance with Council Directive No. 92/117/EC (1) of 17 December 1992. [17770/99]

Ceist:

325 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the necessity for the introduction of the European Communities Zoonoses Regulations, 1996. [17771/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 324 and 325 together.

The European Communities (Zoonoses) Regulations, 1996 (S.I. No. 2 of 1996) were introduced to transpose Council Directive No. 92/117/EEC into Irish law. The latest information about the situation in the Community is that all other member states, bar one, have transposed this Directive into national law, the implementation of which is a matter for the competent authorities in those individual member states.
