Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Johnny Brady

Ceist:

329 Mr. J. Brady asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the necessary personnel will be appointed to his Department's offices in Navan, County Meath, to deal with the mounting backlog of work in the REP scheme and farm development service sections since the deployment of senior staff at this office; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17922/99]

A backlog of work in some of the rural development and environment (RDE) schemes has arisen in my Department's offices in Navan, County Meath due to the recent retirement and resignation, respectively, of two RDE inspectors and the redeployment of the district superintendent. An RDE inspector was appointed to the Navan office on 27 September last. My Department is actively pursuing the filling of the remaining inspector and district superintendent posts.
