486 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps, if any, he will take to have a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath admitted to Beaumont Hospital for urgent medical care; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17848/99]

Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Cowen):

The provision of medical treatment in this case is the responsibility of Beaumont Hospital in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the hospital to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
