Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy Service.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

508 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if a speech therapist will be appointed to St Brigid's school, Harbour Street, Mullingar, County Westmeath, in view of the fact there are a number of students who would benefit from speech therapy on a daily basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18039/99]

The provision of health-related support services to school-going children in the Mullingar area is the responsibility of the Midland Health Board in the first instance. I understand the board has a vacancy for a speech therapist at St. Brigid's school and is actively recruiting to fill this post as soon as possible.
