Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Northern Ireland Issues.

Proinsias De Rossa

Ceist:

81 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement on the progress of the review of the Good Friday Agreement being undertaken by Senator George Mitchell; and the state of any discussions between the two Governments and the political parties in Northern Ireland regarding the full implementation of the agreement. [17937/99]

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

204 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the progress of the review of the Good Friday Agreement; if Senator George Mitchell will prepare a formal report of the review; if this report will include recommendations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18109/99]

I propose to reply to Questions Nos. 81 and 204 together.

As regards the general progress of the review of the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, I would refer the Deputies to the answer I have just given to priority Question No. 76.

Whether Senator Mitchell will prepare a formal report, and whether that report will contain recommendations, has not yet been decided. Presumably this will depend, among other things, on the progress made in the review.
