538 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if a person (details supplied) in County Sligo will be called immediately for her operation in view of the tremendous pain she is under and the fact that she has diabetes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18383/99]

Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Cowen):

The provision of medical treatment in this case is the statutory responsibility of the North-Western Health Board in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
