Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Driving Test Centres.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

570 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a driver testing centre will be established in Enniscorthy, County Wexford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18488/99]

There are 49 driving test centres nationwide, including two recently established in the Raheny and Tallaght areas of Dublin. The locations of these centres are generally considered to provide reasonable accessibility to test applicants and to represent an equitable balance between convenience to customers and the need for economy in delivering the driver testing service.

County Wexford is already served by driving test centres in Gorey and Wexford, and the western parts of County Wexford are served by Kilkenny and Waterford test centres. In the circumstances it is not proposed to site a driving test centre in Enniscorthy.
