798 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress to date on the development of a primary school in the Grange and Fairfield area in Douglas, County Cork; when the school will open; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17227/99]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin):

I take it the Deputy is referring to the Grange-Frankfield area, Douglas.

A design team has been engaged to undertake the architectural planning of a new school at Grange-Frankfield and a preliminary plan is in preparation. Phase 1 of the development is due to be completed by September 2001. It is intended that the first intake of pupils will take place in temporary accommodation in September 2000.
