Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Mary Coughlan

Ceist:

812 Ms Coughlan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding funding a resource room and parking facility at Drimnacrogh national school, Glenties, County Donegal. [17396/99]

I assume the Deputy is referring to Drumnacross national school, Kilraine P.O., County Donegal.

My Department has provided grant assistance of £32,482 towards a resource room and parking facilities at the school. I understand that the works are almost completed and the school has now occupied the resource room.

Ceist:

813 Ms Coughlan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding classroom extensions for national schools (details supplied). [17397/99]

I take it the Deputy is referring to Robertson national school, Ballintra, Lifford, County Donegal. The board of management of this school has been advised that I have authorised the commencement of architectural planning for the provision of an extension at the school.

The position regarding Gleneely national school, Killygordon, is that an architectural assessment of the school has been carried out by my Department's architectural service. My Department's planning section is presently examining the projected enrolments at the school. When this process has been completed, the building unit will be in further contact with the school.

Architectural planning has been initiated for the provision of an extension at Rockfield national school, Ballyshannon. My Department's architectural staff are currently working on revised drawings following a recent meeting with the school management.

The board of management of Inver national school has been advised that architectural planning may commence for the provision of an extension at the school. My Department's architectural staff are presently working on a sketch scheme for the project.

My Department has recently authorised the board of management of Tory national school to proceed with the invitation of tenders for the extension and refurbishment at the school.
