Vol. 508 No. 2

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

John Bruton

Ceist:

83 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason he has not provided a detailed response to representations made on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Meath seeking an additional milk quota; if this case will be dealt with; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18435/99]

I understand the person in question was informed by letter from the district veterinary office on 29 June this year that herd-number Q 1 47128/8 had been allocated to her. A reply to this effect has been issued earlier this week to the Deputy.

Having a separate herd-number is one of the requirements for eligibility as a new entrant under the milk quota restructuring scheme. The other requirements have been set down in public notices and are no doubt known to the person named. Under the regulations the milk quota restructuring scheme is operated by milk purchasers co-operatives dairies and the person named should therefore deal directly with the appropriate milk purchaser.
