196 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, the Office of Public Works has to clean a river (details supplied) in County Mayo and to rebuild its banks or deepen the river bed to prevent future flooding. [19061/99]
My office has requested a firm of consulting engineers, Messrs ESB International, to carry out a feasibility study into flooding in the area in question and Office of Public Works staff will liaise with the consultants in any site surveys necessary. Pending receipt of the feasibility report neither the commissioner nor myself are in a position to say what works, if any, might be recommended for execution or indeed to give a timescale for their implementation.
