272 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when the Southern and Eastern Regional Authority will be established; the location of its headquarters; and the budget in this regard. [17462/99]

The southern and eastern regional assembly was established by order made on 21 July 1999 under the Local Government Act 1991. Members of the assembly have been appointed by the constituent local authorities and the inaugural meeting of the assembly will be held on 8 October 1999. The headquarters of the southern and eastern regional assembly is Waterford city and the estimated annual operational cost of the assembly is in the region of £0.5 million.
