Vol. 508 No. 3

Written Answers - Grant Aid.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

324 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will provide grant assistance for a group (details supplied) in Dublin 12; and, if not, the possible sources of funding, if any, for which the group could apply. [18953/99]

There is no current funding available in my Department's Vote to provide grant assistance to the group concerned . The group may wish to contact the Arts Council which is the Government's principal arts funding and advisory body and has its offices at 70 Merrion Square, Dublin 2. The Arts Council is an independent autonomous body and I have no role in its funding decisions.

The principal capital funding for arts and cultural infrastructural projects is through the cultural development incentives scheme which is administered by my Department under the EU Operational Programme for Tourism. This is the last year of the current operational programme and all capital funding under the scheme has been fully allocated. Accordingly, I am not in a position to consider capital funding for projects at this time.
