Vol. 508 No. 3

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Mary Coughlan

Ceist:

377 Ms Coughlan asked the Minister for Education and Science when tenders will be invited for the contractor for the proposed New Wood national school, Ardara, County Donegal. [19029/99]

Tender documentation is currently being finalised for the proposed new school at Ardara, County Donegal. A decision on tender invitation will be taken when this process has been completed satisfactorily.

Joe Higgins

Ceist:

378 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress by his Department in buying land to site a national school in Littlepace and Castaheaney, Dublin 15; and if his Department is fully cognisant of the rapidity with which this area is growing and the need to ensure the building is capable of accommodating the growing school going population. [19031/99]

My Department recently approved the provision of a new 16 classroom national school at Castaheany, Dublin 15, and the school authorities are currently in the process of negotiating the site purchase on behalf of my Department.

My Department considers the provision of a 16 classroom school adequate for the short-term needs. However, the site will allow for the provision of additional accommodation, if required, at a later stage.
