Written Answers - Proposed Legislation.
Responsibility for the landlord and tenant legislative code rests with the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform. However, last July I established a commission on the private rented residential sector to examine, inter alia, the working of the landlord and tenant relationship in respect of the private rented sector and to make recommendations, including changes to the law. The commission is to report to me by 1 June, 2000, at which stage the measures required to implement its recommendations can be considered.
