Vol. 510 No. 5

Written Answers. - Medical Treatment.

Michael Finucane

Ceist:

76 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason it was not discovered that a person (details supplied) who attended at the casualty department of St. Vincent's Hospital during the summer had suffered a serious fracture in spite of being x-rayed on two occasions and was detected only when she subsequently attended the Blackrock Clinic for an x-ray; if he will ensure no other patient attending at casualty in St. Vincent's Hospital has a similar experience; and if he will seek an explanation from the hospital. [21059/99]

The provision of medical treatment in this case is a matter, in the first instance, for St. Vincent's Hospital. I have therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the hospital to investigate this case and reply directly to the Deputy.
