Vol. 511 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ulick Burke

Ceist:

158 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway under the 1998 fodder assistance scheme; the reason for the delay in payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24357/99]

To qualify under the 1998 winter fodder scheme a producer had to have a herd number in one of the designated DEDs. The DEDs were designated on the basis of an examination by Teagasc of areas most affected by the bad weather. As the person named does not have a herd number in a designated DED he is not entitled to payment under the 1998 scheme.

However, he is entitled to £160 in respect of four cows under the 1999 winter fodder scheme. Arrangements are being made to effect this payment as soon as possible.
