Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

350 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of Garda stations in County Kildare in which the new PULSE technology has been installed and is operational [24504/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 349 and 350 together.

The PULSE project is well advanced, and the critical year 2000 compliance element, namely, "Release 1b" systems, was successfully made operationally ready on 15 November last. These year 2000-compliant systems are being rolled out to Garda stations throughout the country, 39 are ready at present and it is intended that they will be made available at 205 locations in the coming months.

With particular regard to County Kildare, PULSE systems are currently operationally ready at Naas, and it is planned to extend their availability to four other locations, namely, Kildare, Newbridge, Athy and Celbridge, by early 2000.
