The information requested by the Deputy as to the number of post-primary schools in County Donegal without sports facilities or halls is not readily available within my Department presently.
It is the policy of my Department to provide physical education halls as part of the schedule of accommodation for all new post-primary schools. A PE hall is also provided when a major extension to a school, which does not have such a facility is being built.
An official in my Department has been appointed to design standard physical education halls. The templates will be ready shortly. When available, these templates will expedite the architectural design stages of PE halls, allowing them to progress quicker through tender and construction stages.
