Ceist:

77 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will change the regulations governing new house grants to include applications from widows who, although they would have owned a house previously, need new accommodation due to their changed circumstances. [24789/99]

It has been a longstanding requirement of the new house grant scheme that the payment of grants be confined generally to first time purchasers of new houses.

I have no plans to amend the current regulations to extend eligibility in the circumstances outlined by the Deputy.
