Ceist:

85 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the capital funding allocated from her Department in 1999 to Ring gaeltacht; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24757/99]

Tógfaidh mé Ceisteanna Uimh. 84 agus 85 le chéile.

Under my Department's Gaeltacht Improvement schemes (scéimeanna feabhsúcháin sa ghaeltacht) a total of £69,240 – including £40,000 for improvement works to Páirc Imeartha na Rinne – has been approved for projects in the Waterford gaeltacht in the period since 1 January 1999 to date. In the same period payments amounting to £82,858 were made in respect of accommodation for students attending recognised gaeltacht courses (sScéim na bhfoghlaimeoirí Gaeilge) and grants totalling £24,658 were approved under the Housing (Gaeltacht) Acts.

Ceist:

86 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the allocation of capital funding from her Department to be made to the Waterford constituency in the year 2000; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24766/99]

Capital funding by my Department is not allocated on the basis of constituencies in the manner implied by the Deputy's question. While the capital expenditure budget is related in certain instances to specific capital projects, the expenditure in other areas would be related to various groups of capital projects and demand led schemes, the precise composition of which for the year 2000 could not at this stage be precisely determined.

Compiling the estimate to enable me to answer the Deputy's question would not be justified as it would entail an inordinate amount of staff time and the estimate that would ensue would be very approximate. However, if the Deputy has queries in relation to the capital expenditure planned in 2000 for any particular project in County Waterford, I will be happy to assist him.

Ceist:

87 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the allocation of capital funding from his Department to be made to the Waterford constituency in the year 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24767/99]

I wish to advise the Deputy that capital funding for the year 2000 has been provided in the Garda Vote, Vote 20, for Garda computer and telecommunications equipment and for the maintenance of Garda premises. However, such funding is not made available on a constituency by constituency basis and it is not possible to state at this stage the precise sums that will be expended in any constituency.
