Vol. 511 No. 6

Written Answers. - Employment Quotas.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

156 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the arrangements, if any, she has made in respect of the flotation of parts of publicly owned companies to the private sector in respect of the obligation on publicly owned companies to achieve a quota of 3 per cent employment opportunities devoted to persons with a disability; and if the quota will continue to apply with regard to work contracted out where public companies decide to contract work to the private sector. [24959/99]

While the commercial State companies remain in majority State ownership their responsibility to meet the 3 per cent employment target for people with a disability will continue. The employment of disabled persons and, in particular, the way in which they fulfil their obligations, are matters for the companies themselves.
