Vol. 511 No. 6

Written Answers. - Computer Programmes.

David Stanton

Ceist:

160 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has satisfied herself that all computer systems in Aer Lingus, Aer Rianta, Irish Refining, Dublin Bus, Irish Rail, the ESB and Eircom are Y2K compliant, tested and that contingency plans are in place in the event of systems failure; the areas not yet compliant and at present without contingency plans; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25427/99]

David Stanton

Ceist:

161 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the status of contingency plans in relation to the Y2K computer problems in the event of a systems failure in her Department and all agencies under her aegis; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25439/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 160 and 161 together.

As I indicated in my reply to Questions Nos. 25 and 84 of 3 November 1999, my Department has achieved Year 2000 compliance in respect of all its critical systems and business continuity and contingency plans are in place to ensure that an adequate level of service is maintained over the millennium period.

In addition, all the State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of my Department have now achieved compliance in respect of their critical systems, and each of them has contingency and business continuity plans in place to ensure that adequate public services will be maintained. My Department is continuing to monitor the situation closely.
