Vol. 511 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Finucane

Ceist:

190 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when suckler cow and headage premia will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [24896/99]

The person named applied for premium on nine cows under the 1999 suckler cow premium scheme and on nine beef cows and nine other animals under the 1999 cattle headage scheme on 3 June 1999.

At a subsequent on farm inspection which took place on 8 October 1999 a number of discrepancies were discovered regarding the tagging of animals listed on the application form and the maintenance of up to date records on the applicants herd register. As he was non-compliant with certain identification and regulatory requirements he was selected for a future inspection.

In addition, the inspection established that he was only entitled to payment on eight cows under the suckler cow scheme as one of the animal tag numbers applied on had been duplicated . It was also established that the tag numbers of two animals on the herdowner's cattle headage application were duplicated. Therefore, he is entitled to payment on eight beef cows and eight other cattle under the cattle headage scheme. A letter issued to the applicant on 17 November 1999 notifying him of the decision taken. This letter provides for a 21 day period for the applicant to seek a review of the decision. Payment will issue in accordance with the decision taken if a review is not sought before 9 December.
