Vol. 511 No. 6

Written Answers. - Doctors' Remuneration.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

274 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department has responded to a claim by doctors demanding £5,000 per person for two days work over the millennium, which would mean consultants and general practitioners on-call earning almost £5,000 for the two days of celebration other than consultant hospital doctors who could receive £2,400 and £3,200 for an average on-call shift. [25002/99]

The alliance of health service unions has claimed extra payments for the period from 8 a.m. on 31 December to 8 a.m. on 2 January. This claim will be considered at a conciliation conference which is scheduled for 2 December in the Labour Relations Commission.
