285 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Health and Children if the barium enema x-ray machine in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9, has been out of order for the past two to three years; if so, if he will rectify this situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25209/99]
I have had inquiries made of Beaumont Hospital authorities regarding this matter and they have advised me that the barium enema x-ray machine at the hospital has been out of operation since February 1998. This equipment was obsolete and beyond repair. Following discussions with my Department, funding was provided to replace this equipment. The hospital have informed me that work is currently in progress to install the new unit and that it is scheduled for completion in mid-December 1999.
