Vol. 511 No. 6

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy Services.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

296 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will appoint a resident speech therapist at St. Patrick's special school, Kells Road, Kilkenny, as a matter of urgency in view of the fact that the current arrangement is unsatisfactory and only covers three mornings a week with some children in the school not receiving the service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25327/99]

The South-Eastern Health Board is currently in the process of recruiting a speech and language therapist for St. Patrick's services on a half time basis. I understand from the board that this post is in addition to the existing service and will increase the number of sessions available in the school.
