420 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science further to Parliamentary Question Nos. 164 and 165 of 28 January 1999, the progress, if any, made in relation to the review of post primary accommodation needs in Youghal, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Officials of the planning and building unit of my Department have met with the trustees of the schools in question on a number of occasions since January to discuss possible options for the development of post-primary school facilities in the centre. In addition, an assessment of the existing school buildings has been carried out by my Department's technical staff to establish accommodation needs in the event that rationalisation of the existing schools proves feasible.
Arrangements are being made for my Department's officials to meet again soon with the trustees of the three schools concerned to pursue the matter further.
