Data on mortality are routinely published in the annual and quarterly reports on vital statistics compiled by the Central Statistics Office. Figures for the second quarter of 1999 will not be available until later this month. During the first quarter of 1999 there were 88 male deaths and 16 female deaths from suicide. These figures are provisional as they refer to deaths registered during January to March 1999 rather than deaths which actually occurred during that period.
