Vol. 512 No. 7

Written Answers. - Home-School Liaison Scheme.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

212 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education and Science the position on the application of a school (details supplied) in Dublin 11 in relation to a request for a home school liaison teacher and resource teacher; if applications are being considered; when the next round of appointments under these headings will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27205/99]

The school to which the Deputy refers has been allocated whole-time teaching posts in respect of remedial teaching and disadvantaged status and 0.5 of a teaching post in respect of home-school-community liaison, all of which are ex-quota.

My Department has recently received an application for extra teaching hours to meet the special needs of a number of pupils attending the school. This application has been referred to the psychological service for a report and recommendation. As soon as its report has been received and considered, my Department will advise the school authorities and the Deputy of the decision in the matter.
