284 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the plans, if any, he has to provide further financial assistance to farmers developing agri-tourism projects; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1608/00]
In the context of the National Development Plan 2000-2006, it is proposed that future funding from my Department for rural tourism, including agri-tourism projects, will be provided under a Leader-type mainstream programme. A sum of £55 million is provided in the plan for a Leader-type programme. The operating rules will be finalised following the conclusion of consultations with the bodies involved in the tourism sector.
