Ceist:

632 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the number of jobs created in 1999 with the assistance of Údarás na Gaeltachta in Counties Mayo, Galway and Donegal; and the number of jobs assisted by Údarás which were lost in 1999 for the same area. [1514/00]

As regards employment creation by an tÚdarás, I wish to point out that the number of persons in full-time employment in industries assisted by an tÚdarás reached an all-time high of 8,183 persons at the end of 1999. I refer the Deputy to the end of year statement issued by an tÚdarás on 24 Jan uary which gives the background to the job creation results achieved by an tÚdarás in 1999.
