Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Parks.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

638 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason for the delay in transferring ownership of St. Catherine's Park, Leixlip, to Kildare County Council; when the matter will be resolved; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1773/00]

The position as outlined in my reply to Question No. 350 of 30 Samhain 1999 remains broadly unchanged.

As advised at that time, agreement has been reached on an amendment to contract documents transferring ownership of part of the demesne to Kildare County Council and completion of the legal formalities in this regard is currently in train.

Fingal County Council had legitimate concerns about entering into a contract for that part of the demesne in Fingal. I understand that these concerns have been addressed and the way is clear for Fingal also to complete the legal formalities.

South Dublin County Council has already executed the legal transfer documents.

I am, of course, anxious that the outstanding legal formalities be completed without delay so that this amenity can be made available to the public as soon as possible by the three local authorities concerned.
