Vol. 513 No. 4

Written Answers. - Bovine Disease Controls.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

125 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if the removal of badgers will be carried out without further delay from the farm of a person (details supplied) in County Waterford, following depopulation of his herd in October 1999, to ensure that the spread of bovine tuberculosis is brought under control before the purchase of replacement stock takes place. [2705/00]

A licence has been obtained by my Department to remove badgers from this farm and arrangements are currently being made for snares to be put in place and monitored. It is anticipated that some results will be available by the end of February when the rest period has ended.
