Vol. 513 No. 4

Written Answers. - Parents for Justice Group.

Liz McManus

Ceist:

167 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on the approach adopted by Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin, in relation to the complaints of the Parents for Justice Group; if he has satisfied himself that the hospital is responding fully; if his Department's report on the matter has been completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2692/00]

My Department has already instructed all health agencies to ensure that a systematic and comprehensive response to parents and families with concerns regarding practices following post mortem examinations be adopted. The response must ensure that the individual needs of parents and families are met and should, at a minimum, include the provision of specific information, counselling and other appropriate support services where required.

My Department is continuing to work with hospital authorities in Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, in its efforts to assist the Parents for Justice Group. This assistance is ongoing and no report has yet been made.
