Ceist:97 Mrs. Barnes asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will give details of the circumstances of the recent security breach at Áras an Uachtaráin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2598/00]

I am advised by the Garda authorities that on 24 January an intruder gained access to the grounds of Áras an Uachtaráin at about 1 p.m. The person concerned was arrested by the gardaí on protection duty shortly after the intrusion and was taken to Cabra Garda station for questioning and subsequent charging. This person was brought before the courts and is currently on bail. Neither the President nor her family were in any danger during the trespass.
