Vol. 513 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations.

Alan Shatter

Ceist:

104 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if an investigation has been conducted into allegations made that a person who is to be a witness at the Flood tribunal has had his phones tapped; if his attention has been drawn to any allegations that phones of other witness to the tribunal have been tapped; and the precautions, if any, recommended to the member of the tribunal and his staff to ensure the security of their deliberations and investigations. [2412/00]

I am advised by the Garda authorities that no complaint or allegation of the type outlined by the Deputy has been received by the Garda Síochána and in this regard the issue of advice on security precautions to the member of the tribunal and his staff did not arise.
