Vol. 513 No. 4

Written Answers. - Aer Lingus Sale.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

120 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the actions, if any, she has taken, in view of the Government decision to launch an initial public offering share sale in Aer Lingus, to restructure the board membership of the company along the lines of Telecom Éireann; the plans, if any, she has that all the board members will have to terminate their membership; and if she will make a statement on the present board membership in the context of the IPO. [2868/00]

The Government authorised me on 14 December 1999 to, inter alia, initiate a process leading to an initial public offering of shares in Aer Lingus. This process is now under Way. The restructuring of the board of Telecom Éireann was undertaken on the basis of advice received by me from the Government's financial advisers appointed for flotation of the company.

Advisers have not yet been appointed for an IPO of shares in Aer Lingus. I will obviously be guided by any advice received from them in relation to any restructuring of board membership of the company.
