Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Sargent. I call on Deputy Sargent to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.
Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
I seek the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to require that the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources and his predecessor address the concerns of inshore prawn fishermen on the east coast whose livelihoods have been severely curtailed by a ten week ban on fishing in large sections of the Irish Sea on account of cod conservation, with particular regard to compensation and advance consultation before any further measures are agreed.
Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31 and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
