Vol. 514 No. 3

Written Answers. - Planning Boundaries.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

249 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the planning boundary of Dublin Corporation extends beyond the high water mark in Dublin Bay; and the plans, if any, he has to introduce legislation to allow that authority consider a planning application for an area beyond the high water mark for which a foreshore licence to permit infill has been sought. [4033/00]

I understand Dublin Corporation accepts that for practical planning purposes their maritime boundary is the high water mark. The forthcoming Local Government Bill will clarify the position as regards the maritime boundary of reclaimed land. In addition, I am considering tabling an amendment in relation to planning permission for developments on the foreshore on Committee Stage of the Planning and Development Bill, 1999, which is before the Dáil.
