Vol. 514 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Monuments.

Liam Lawlor

Ceist:

289 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will bring lands (details supplied) into State ownership to ensure the future protection of the Round Tower, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, in view of proposed developments in its vicinity which may effect the physical integrity of this designated national monument. [4084/00]

Clondalkin Round Tower is a national monument in State care.

My Department is maintaining close contact with the planning authority in regard to any proposed developments in and around the tower to ensure that there will not be any adverse impact on the tower.

Acquisition of the land is not an option available to me as all resources available to me at present are committed to the care and conservation of the national monuments already in my care.
