325 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide additional funding to Meath VEC in order that it can provide a proper remedial service to its schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4173/00]
The Deputy will be aware that, with effect from the beginning of the current school year, all second level schools in the free education scheme have an entitlement to an ex-quota allocation in respect of remedial teaching. The allocation to an individual school is determined by the enrolment in the school.
The appropriate allocation for remedial teaching for the current school year has been made to County Meath VEC in respect of the schools within the scheme. The position will be reviewed for the 2000-01 school year.
