225 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the amount of compensation to be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo whose herd had to be destroyed because of brucellosis. [8908/00]
Following the disclosure of brucellosis reactors at a herd test on 11 March 2000, an offer of depopulation was made by the district veterinary office to which the person in question agreed on 24 March 2000. It is hoped to remove the reactor and in-contact animals for slaughter this week.
On conclusion of the herd grant categorisation process, appropriate reactor and depopulation grants will be processed for payment.
