Vol. 517 No. 4

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

John Bruton

Ceist:

231 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to make funds available to North Tipperary County Council to construct a link road from Nenagh to the Nenagh by-pass; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10176/00]

No application from Tipperary NR County Council has been made to my Department in relation to funding for this project.

The maintenance and improvement of non-national roads in their area is a matter for each local authority to be funded from its own resources, supplemented by grants from the local government fund. Tipperary NR County Council has been allocated a total of £5.670 million in non-national road grants this year, an increase of 8% on its 1999 allocation.
