Vol. 517 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

116 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the average waiting time before a homeless person on a local authority waiting list is accommodated in a suitable local authority dwelling; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10323/00]

A specific average waiting time before a homeless person on a local authority waiting list is accommodated in a local authority dwelling is not available. In some instances, where, for example, a household is made homeless due to an emergency such as fire etc., they may be re-housed almost immediately. In other instances, it can take longer having regard to local circumstances.
