172 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will grant leave to repeat two subjects in the leaving certificate examination in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare who is anxious to repeat but whose application was late; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10360/00]
The closing date for entries of external candidates to the leaving certificate was 12 November 1999. Applications are not accepted after 1 February 2000 except in exceptional circumstances and on payment of £25 per subject in addition to the normal fee. If some exceptional circumstances apply in this case the person concerned should write to examinations branch of my Department in Athlone setting out the details.
