65 Mr. Ring asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of staff in the work permit section of her Department, including details of full-time, part-time and job sharing employees; and the plans, if any, she has to increase the number of staff following her announcements of permits for non-EU nationals in certain industries. At present there are 12 full-time officers and one job sharing officer in the work permit section of my Department.
As part of my recent submission to Government, arising out of the work of the interdepartmental-agency group, it was agreed that the work permit system should be adequately resourced and promoted.
To undertake additional tasks and to meet targets, the Government accordingly sanctioned the allocation of additional staff to my Department, subject to discussion with the Department of Finance.
