Vol. 518 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Ceist:

154 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science further to Parliamentary Question No. 168 of 6 April 2000, the position regarding the refurbishment of a school (details supplied) in Dublin 8; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11287/00]

As I indicated in the reply to Question No. 168 on 6 April, my Department has a large number of school building projects in hand at present and within this constraint the project for the school in question is being dealt with as quickly as possible.

The funding of capital projects depends on factors such as the rate of progress of architectural design, the granting of planning permission and the outcome of the tender competition. Assuming that no delays arise at any point in the process, a building project can, by its nature, take a considerable period of time to process. However, every effort will be made to ensure that the project is processed as quickly as possible.
