309 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will sanction the appointment of four additional special needs assistants to a school (details supplied) in Dublin 9 in view of the fact the school in question will find it very difficult to operate without them; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 274, 275, 299 and 309 together.

The school in question is entitled to additional special needs assistant support. My Department's inspectorate is currently examining the precise needs of the school to ensure that adequate additional support is provided, having regard to the needs of pupils attending the school. It is expected that my Department will be in a position to notify the school shortly in relation to its allocation of additional special needs assistant posts.
