Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Perry – the plans the Minister for Education and Science has for the much needed upgrading of Summerhill College, Sligo; (2) Deputy McGinley – the urgent need to complete reconstruction works at Portnablagh Pier, County Donegal; (3) Deputy Neville – the extension to Pallaskenry national school, County Limerick; (4) Deputy Clune – the need for funding to be put in place to ensure the further development of Cork Airport; (5) Deputy Bradford – the need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development to initiate and pursue policies which will encourage young people to take up a career in farming; (6) Deputy Jim Higgins – the shooting dead by gardaí of John Carthy, Abbeylara, County Longford on Holy Thursday; (7) Deputy Owen – the urgent need for a decision on the provision of additional accommodation in St. Patrick's senior school, Skerries, County Dublin; (8) Deputy Timmins – the failure of the Government to address the increasing carnage on our roads; (9) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin – the need to provide for the establishment of a new amalgamated national school for Rathmore, County Kerry; (10) Deputy Deenihan – the unsuitability of the site at Ballymullen Army Barracks, Tralee, to house 50 mobile homes to accommodate 200 asylum seekers; (11) Deputy Allen – the long delays in Cork with regard to in-patient admissions; (12) Deputy Upton – the urgent need for the Minister for Education and Science to address the shortfall in services for children with special needs; (13) Deputy Theresa Ahearn – the need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to resolve the serious impasse that has arisen from his proposal to locate 40 asylum seekers in Clogheen, County Tipperary; (14) Deputy Enright – the reply to Parliamentary Question No 60 of 5 April 2000 regarding the discharge of a person (details supplied) from hospital who died shortly thereafter; (15) Deputy Dukes – the reduction being imposed by the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs in the reimbursement made to a private bus operator in connection with the operation of the free travel scheme on three routes in County Kildare and one route between Roscrea and Limerick.

The matters raised by Deputies Jim Higgins, Deenihan, Theresa Ahearn and Breeda Moynihan-Cronin have been selected for discussion.
